“It was very interesting to see different the lidar approaches coming up again. I’ve worked with lidar since the late 80s and I have developed a lot of lidar sensors in my lifetime, so it’s nice to see it’s coming back. This I enjoyed very much. It’s a little bit of a pity that we have such a lot of things so young people now working on these programmes just seem to have working on this or forgotten and make old mistakes. I think it’s because people have a new approach to driving. For my kids, they don’t want to have the car, they want to have transportation – and the only way to come to this point to have new cars, electric driven perhaps, but not only 5000 hours perhaps 40000 hours and then just ordered on demand for transportation, they come automatically in front of the door, jump in and let me drive somewhere, and then I jump off. They don’t to buy cars, they want to buy transportation. I come from a company in the area industrial sensing in vehicle automation, so I have a look around what going in on autos and drive what technology I can transfer into industrial sensors. So this is one of the approaches, in the area of AutoSens and so I like to see old cars and see what’s going on and it’s open to us.” Joachim Tiedeke, Baumer Electric AG
